J.C.  Caffro, with his winning smile, his athletic ability, and his sterling personality was one of those people who possessed wisdom, ambition, and virtue.

Born in Rochester, Pennsylvania, the son of Larry and Sandy Richards Caffro, he found early success with Troop 18, Boy Scouts of America in Columbiana, Ohio. He was quick to become a member of the Sippolo Lodge of the prestigious Boy Scout Order of the Arrow and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

It was in the field of sports, however, that JC excelled, first as a member of the Columbiana High School track team. But ultimately as a member of the Tri-County Champion "Clipper" football team. The night of November 4, 1994 , will be long remembered by the Caffro family as JC anchored a solid perfect 10-0 season, leading to a playoff bid. Tragically, however, Sam and Rosemarie Caffro, JC's grandparents were killed in an auto accident on their way home from the game. JC, his parents, and his sister Tami were devastated along with their extended family and legion of friends.

In spite, of his grief, JC led the Clippers to a first-round playoff victory that autumn, participated in the Penn-Ohio All-Star game, and eventually, went on to Geneva College on an athletic scholarship, later transferring to the University of Akron. It was here he found new friends including the brothers of Phi Delta Theta and a job at Akron General Hospital. It was also at the University that he met Amanda Viano, his girlfriend.

There are many people who are very thankful for JC -- thankful for all he did for his church. Thankful for all he did for the ball teams and the Boy Scouts and those who will live because of the sharing of his organs, and the PhiDelts, and the list could go on and on.
